April 2011

Czarcrest Westies would like to announce our first VCD1 title holder.  Dogs awarded this title must have novice agility, obedience and tracking dog titles.  This AKC distinction shows once again the versatility of this special dog, BISS CH Czarcrest's Blue Moon VCD1 RE NA OAJ OJP NF ME **WHWTCA Master of Versatility 2 and ROM** as well as the hard work put in by his owner Susan Chapman.  Congratulations to Susan and Blue on this latest accomplishment.

April 2011

Czarcrest Westies has received an update from Mike and Teri Crouch on the 4 ounce puppy ("Thumbelina") that Michele hand raised from Darby's litter......

Lucy has adjusted well to her move to Florida.  She is a healthy, happy and energetic puppy.  And now she weighs 7 lbs. 5 ozs.  Along with the usual stuffed toys she received as gifts from our friends, her favorite toys are empty water bottles and plastic milk jugs....what a surprise!  She is enjoying the beautiful weather and loves to go for long walks (more running than walking).

On our walks we have met more of our neighbors than ever.  The other day a man visiting from Long Island, New York came running out of his friend's condo to see her.  He said he had heard about the "beautiful Westie puppy" in the neighborhood and wanted to see for himself.  He and his wife have been Westie owners for 32 years and after meeting her, he announced her as "perfect".

We are constantly asked "where did you get such a beautiful dog?" and "is that a real dog?"  But, alas, she is not perfect (yet).  She chews on everything but is getting much better.  She still has some training accidents (which is our fault, but she's so darn fast....she goes to the door and if we're not paying attention......well, you know).  And she doesn't like her bedtime routine changed in any way.

She is such a joy and makes us laugh every day about the most mundane things.  We thank you, Mama Michele, every day for all the love and loving care you gave her to help her be the thriving puppy she is now.  She's the best little girl we could ask for!

CH Czarcrest's Hey Look Me Over! ("Mia") became the first Czarcrest Westie to attain the title of AKC Grand Champion.  Mia earned this distinction at the West Highland White Terrier Club of Northern Illinois Specialty at the International Kennel Club Show in Chicago on February 27.  Mia was awarded Best of Opposite Sex under judge Mrs. Robert D. Smith to earn her fourth major since the first of the year in Grand Champion competition.

Incidentally, it was at the same the same show two years ago in 2009 that Mia earned her first points toward her AKC Championship as a young puppy, also earning a major win and Best of Opposite Sex on that day.
